VPN Autoupdate | 4.8.02.0010

I have been testing silent auto update of VPN client to the latest version 4.8.02.0010. Auto update works fine and download all the hosted files from webserver correctly. But it is not taking up the correct installation path as I have defined in the oem.zip file. And When I look at the autoupdate.log this is what I find there:

21:09:25 05/01/2007 : **Starting Autoupdate**

21:09:25 05/01/2007 : Autoupdate: Downloading from http://webserver

21:09:27 05/01/2007 : Downloading file http://webserver/binary_config.ini

21:09:27 05/01/2007 : Autoupdate: downloaded in: 156

21:09:28 05/01/2007 : Downloading file http://webserver/sig.dat

21:09:28 05/01/2007 : Autoupdate: downloaded in: 203

21:09:28 05/01/2007 : Downloading file http://webserver/new_update_config.ini

21:09:28 05/01/2007 : Autoupdate: downloaded in: 125

21:09:28 05/01/2007 : Downloading file http://webserver/oem.zip

21:09:35 05/01/2007 : Autoupdate: downloaded in: 6250

21:09:35 05/01/2007 : Autoupdate could not find update_config.ini, so downloading new one

21:09:38 05/01/2007 : Autoupdate was unable to open file

21:09:38 05/01/2007 : Autoupdate failed to download file

21:09:38 05/01/2007 : Autoupdate has send IPC to service

21:09:38 05/01/2007 : **Ending Autoupdate**

I have no idea about line #11, which update_config.ini file it is trying to download and why.

Bottom line, auto update is not picking up correct installation location as defined in oem.zip file and I feel line #11 may have something related to it.

Any idea?

Thanks,

When the VPN Client software gets the notification, it launches the autoupdate program and gives it the location from which to download the updated version and profiles (if there are any).

autoupdate downloads all the files correctly hosted on my webserver and installation also happens with one problem. I have defined my own installation path in oem.zip file but still the installation is happening at C:\Program Files\Cisco System\VPN Client only.

Please see if you could replicate this issue using silent autoupdate with VPN 4.8.02.0010 version.

thanks

Please post your update_config.ini file.

Which installtion do you use: InstallShield or MSI?

hey vikas, there is no such update_config.ini file on my webserver. I am using IS with autoupdate and I have following files on my webserver as below:

1. binary_config.ini

2. new_update_config.ini

3. oem.zip

4. sig.dat

5. vpnclient-win-is-4.8.00.0440-k9.exe

The content of new_update_config.ini is as below:

[Update]

Version=1

[OEM]

FileName=oem.zip

MaxSize=2000000

[Autoupdate]

Required=1

I am really not sure which update_config.ini file autoupdate is trying to download as posted with vpn autoupdate logs. Please let me know if you have any idea about it. Thanks

oops..small typo, the correct file name mentioned as point 5 is vpnclient-win-is-4.8.02.0010-k9.exe.
