Hi everyone,
I downloaded NIST Net WAN Emulation Software below from CCO (http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/fe_util).
to measure WAAS performance in our lab.
Cisco-NISTnet3-disc1-v4.iso
NIST Net ISO, kernel 2.6.9-22. Added support of GigE and other HW. 4.0
And I installed NIST Net WAN Emulation Software into brand new DELL PowerEdge 1950 according to
the following document.
NIST Net WAN Emulation Software Installation and Configuration Note
Installation has finished successfully but NIST Net does not work correctly with the following message
displayed continuously.
fast_rtc: lost around 26 interrupts at 8192Hz
or
fast_rtc: lost around 0 interrupts at 8192Hz
Why there is a differentiation as 26 or 0 is that it seems to depend select entry on the menu
that displayed by executing "./nistnet" command.
And I have to execute system restart (CNTL + ALT + DEL) to stop the message from being displayed
continuously.
I can not resolve this problem, so would you please let me know how I can resolve it to get NIST Net
work properly.
Your information would be appreciated.
Best regards,

The only workaround available currently is what you have done " Reloading the Device "

I too downloaded the Cisco-NISTnet3-disc1-v4 and extract it into an CD. But is there any other steps i need to do??
Coz when i boot the CD, it doesn't boot.
Do i need to put certain files into specific location?? Or is there any speical instruction i need to do??
Would appreciated any help on this as i have spent hours on this but it still couldn't boot up.

Hi Hunt,
Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to answer your question clearly but I would like you to give the information that might help you.
NIST NET Home Page
http://www-x.antd.nist.gov/nistnet/index.html
How to install the emulation package, version 2.0.12
http://www-x.antd.nist.gov/nistnet/install.html
(It is for version 2.0.12 not 4.0, however I think the basic procedure might be the same ...)
I hope this information help you.
Regards,
Shinichi
