is there a WCCP (Web cache communications protocol) like for 800 series?

I need to install a web cache like squid, but I want to do it transparently using the cisco WCCP version 2 or the WCCP version 1, but my 871 series does not support that feature, only 1600, 2500 and upper series.. what do you recommend me in order to install that web cache server without loosing the cisco (routing, vpn, firewall, dhcp) capabilities... coud be the ICP protocol?

or can I use the Cisco CE-510-K9 with the cisco 871 router instead of squid?

I did have the c870-advsecurityk9-mz.123-8.YI2, then upgraded to c870-advipservicesk9-mz.124-6.T2, and it supports WCCP, but according to cisco's documentation, the 800 series does not support it... here the links to online pages wich says that:

wccp version 2

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/webscale/webcache/ce23/swconfig/chap4.htm#xtocid1060314

from Cisco 1600 to Cisco 7500 series and few Catalysts

wccp version 1

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/software/ios120/120newft/120t/120t3/wccp.htm#wp1044535

from Cisco 1000 series to Cisco 7500 series

thanks in advance

Hello Aldo,

Note that the platform support list for WCCP version 1 was only valid at the time the document was published. Since that doc was for 12.0(3)T, it's probably quite old.

I had a look at Cisco Feature Navigator [http://www.cisco.com/go/fn/ ] and WCCP is listed as a supported feature in 'c870-advipservicesk9' (for the 871 in particular) in release 12.4T. I'd assume that if the feature is supported in the image, it's probably supported on the platform that runs that image...

Definitely prefer Feature Navigator to the online copies of documentation, as you have to consider when the document was published (and for what release) when considering how up to date things like platform support lists are. For example, the WCCP v2 doc you point to was published in 2001, so it probably doesn't list hardware support updates...

Yes,,, I notices that too..

thanks!

I read the feature sheet: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps380/products_data_sheet0900aecd8028a976.html

and it says it supports the WCCP v2.

thanks

Once, I have enabled the Application Security features, I set to 'blocked' the IM:MSN, it wrote this lines to the conf:

server deny name messenger.hotmail.com

server deny name gateway.messenger.hotmail.com

server deny name webmessenger.msn.com

that blocked the MSN for all the LAN clients, how can enable it for certain clients, lets say

ip x.x.x.3 and ip x.x.x.16

thanks in advance
