Same DN, different partition in Unity

One of our servers are configured to use same DN but different partition. For example, ext. 101 in Partition A is assigned to a phone and ext. 101 in Partition B is assigned to the Device Profile, is there a problem w/ this?


Also, when I create a Unity mailbox and assign it to extension 101, which extension will be using the mailbox, is it the 101 in Partition A or Partition B?

Unity doesnt know any partitions, so it will play same mailbox greeting for both phones. If you need two individual mailboxes, try something like this. In Unity configure extensions as 2101 and 3101. In the voicemail profile of appropriate phones, set the voicemail profile mask to 2XXX and 3XXX respectively. You will need to create two individual profiles for each phone.


This would obviously affect the MWI. Unity will try to light 2101 and 3101. Inorder to properly translate 2101 to 101 in partition p1 and 3101 to 101 in parition p2 you will need to do two things.


a. set a translation pattern 2101 to 101 and have Unity voicemail ports, MWI ports have a CSS that has access to this partition in which the translation pattern is. Similarly create one for 3101 to 101.


b. Set the Multi tenant MWI to True in Callmanager Service parameter. THis is a clusterwide setting.

forgot to ask you, if there's a message in the mailbox, MWI will try to light the lamp but will only be able to light the first ext. 101 that it will see (e.g. Partition A because that's first in CSS) and it will not light the ext. 101 in Part. B, correct?

That is correct. If P1 is listed above P2 in the CSS that voicemail ports have access to, only 101 in partition P1 will be lit.
