t1 wan question

Hello everyone,

I have an example here.

Theres a router which has 2 serial connections configured and an ethernet connection. The Ethernet goes to a catalyst 4507 on the LAN.

One of the serial connections is s0(192.168.99.10) and the second being s1(192.168.99.15).

S0 and S1 have connections to 2 seperate T1 DSU/CSU units (data ports). 1 of the DSU/CSU units are connected to an HRE422 and the other is connected to an HRE420 (I believe these are pairgains)

In the above example, does this router have 2 dedicated T1 connections to the remote network? I'm not too experienced with the cabling structure, but to me it looks as though theres 2 t1 lines. If this is true, how can I tell which line is being used and if one is just there for a backup? I would also like to know how I can monitor and view the bandwidth on the T1 line?

Thank You

Hi,

We can't judge by this, the provider might be doing policing on his side, but to monitor the BW you can simply use CyberGauge "http://www.neon.com/CGwin.shtml" (uses snmp) to monitor your link utilization, as for the backup issue can you past us the routes configured on the router.

HTH, please rate if it does help,

Mohammed Mahmoud.

I would recommend using a /free/ tool.
