FAC or CMC features on digital (PRI) gateway ??

The administration guide states clearly that FAC features work with all Cisco IP Phone models and MGCP-controlled analog gateway. I would wonder that FAC features work with digital gateway on PRI connection or not?

Hi Hando,

The Digital PRI can be set to use MGCP so this should work just fine. Have a look;

Yes, you can use FAC/CMC with PRI. The distinction that is being made is between H.323 and MGCP. H.323 analog gateways do not support FAC/CMC because they cannot play tones. See the following link for confirmation.

Basically, I understand that FAC/CMC is defining in Route Pattern. And it should be working if matching the pattern. However, the section "Interactions and Restrictions" of Client Matter Codes and Forced Authorization Codes and even in the IP Telephony Part 1 course materials. It states "The CMC and FAC features work with all Cisco IP Phone models and MGCP-controlled analog gateways." In addition, in "Interactions and Restrictions" section, it also states:

- H.323 analog gateways do not support FAC or CMC because these gateways cannot play tones;

- CTI devices and CTI-controlled Cisco IP Phones do not support FAC or CMC; and

- Cisco WebDialer does not support FAC or CMC.

As it specifies on IP Phone models MGCP-controlled analog gateways, H.323 analog gateway, CTI devices, CTI-controlled Cisco IP Phones and CIsco WebDialer, it does not mention digital gateway, so I would wonder that FAC/CMC is working with MGCP-controlled digital gateways?
