Typically Cisco gives 6 monhts advance notice when major changes are coming. The CCIE voice has only been changed once July/2006 from its original version. This was long after CM 4.1(3) has been out in the field. I think you are save for 8 months :-)

all news and announcements are listed at:

http://www.cisco.com/web/learning/le3/ccie/voice/index.html

Lab Equipment and Version are listed at:

wish you all the best for the lab, because its really hard to pass :-)

My suggestion is to begin your studies on the existing software versions and hardware. Cisco tyically provides enough time to change gear if necessary.

Hi guys and thanks for your help.

Do you think 8 month from now should be ok.

I mean to have the same version as i beleive its being a while since this version is running.

I would also recommend you participate in the Ask the Expert sessions from Ben Ng, here in this forum. There have been 2 or 3 sessions in the past. You can search for them and read them through. Very informative.

Hi Wissam,

Just thought I would a little note to the great info you have received so far (from 2 CCIE Voice experts no less!) This exact question was asked/answered in Ben's recent Ask the Expert Event;

Currently we have CCM 4.1(3) and Unity 4.0(5). These versions will remain in the lab at least for the remainder of 2007.

The next upgrade path is currently under review, sorry I could not conclusively tell you which version is next at this point in time. However, we will always try our best to announce software upgrades or hardware additions at least 6 months prior to the actual event take place in the lab.

Hope it helps,

-ben

Software Versions

Any major release of Call Manager, Unity or CRS that has been generally available for six months is eligible for testing in the CCIE Voice lab exam. You may see more recent IOS versions installed in the lab, but will not be tested on those features unless indicated below.

All routers use IOS version 12.4 Main Train

Catalyst 6503 series switches use Switch OS version 7.6(X)

Catalyst 3550 series switches use IOS version 12.1EA

CCM version 4.1(3) with latest SR

Unity version 4.0(5)

CRS version 4.0(1)

Hope this helps!
