What is the difference between connection plar and connection plar opx? When would I use one vs. the other?

Yeah I took a look at that already. Still didn't grasp the difference. Please advise.

With "plar-opx", the voice port does not answer until the remote side has answered. If you are transferring to an extension over which you have no control (an off premise extension), it's beneficial for the port to wait to answer the call until it knows the far end is going to answer. This keeps the gateway from answering a call and then having nowhere to route it.
Hope this helps.

So would you recommend using this when impementing plar to an auto attendant?

It depends on your environment. In general, it would not be necessary as you will have call routing intelligence to take care of the situation where the AA cannot answer.
