Hello ,

I want to know the difference between the carrier ethernet and Metroethernet .What are the standards they follow? My understanding is (correct me if I am wrong) Carrier ethernet has eliminated use of MPLS to some extent by deploying PBT 802.1ah and 802.1ad standards.Does Carrier ethernet has more Scalability in comparision with Metroethernet ?

Hi Ranjeet

Though i am not sure about the standards as a SP we do provide both the kinda services which we call it in different names altogether coz of the nature and the back end network over which its been offered.

We either call it EoS which can be interpreted as Ethernet over Sonet or SDH depending on geographical location you are availing the service.

Also AFAIK scalability is very similar on both the services and the time required on reserving or allocating the lamda (end to end) may differ when compared to metroe where they just need to open the pipe or apply the cap for higher limit on the end devices..
