I have some remote sites using FXO ports for PSTN access. They are all using MGCP. I have read that Caller-ID is not supported with MGCP. My customer is now asking for Caller-ID. I have read about H.323. Does anyone have a good standard config for setting up H.323 for FXO ports. Also what are the pros and cons of MGCP vs H.323 when using FXO ports.
I look forward to some good feedback.
Thanks in advance.

Caller ID does not work on FXO ports. This is because caller ID is not supported with FXO ports when configured for MGCP. Instead, configure the gateway in H.323 mode.

With H.323, you configure all the dial-peers manually on the router. With MGCP, the call processing & dial plan is handled by the CCM and downloaded to the router. Also, CCM sees H.323 as a single gateway, where with MGCP, CCM sees each port as a gateway.
Hope this helps.

Do you have a config example that I could look at?
