ATA 188 10 mbps only

Hi there,

I have some ATA 188 that don't go to 100mbps even if I force speed and duplexing at the switch( they don't work at all if I force). I use 2950, 2960 and 3560.

Is it the Ata firmware the problem? (ATA030201SCCP050429A.ZUP)

Thanks

Hi Jean-Sebastien,

It sounds like you might actually have an ATA 186. Have a look at this note;

Note: The Cisco ATA 188 performs auto-negotiation for duplexity and speed and is capable of 10/100 Mbps, full-duplex operation. ***The Cisco ATA 186 is fixed at 10 Mbps, half-duplex operation.

From this good ATA doc;

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/gatecont/ps514/products_administration_guide_chapter09186a00800c4d18.html

Hope this helps!

Rob

If it's got two ethernet ports, its an ATA-188 which should be 10/100. The ATA-186 is 10-meg only which isn't a big deal since it's only voice traffic.

It's ATA 188 not 186. The network port and the PC port don't go to 100 mbps. I tried auto and forced speed/duplex on both port.

Several ATA 188 that I have deployed do this.

I can only have 10mbps/half.

Thanks

I have found this doc:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/gatecont/ps514/prod_release_note09186a00803535f4.html

That show the Switchports parameter configuration.

To change manually , the hardware version number on your Cisco ATA must be 0x0009. Verify this by checking on the Device Information page (http:///DeviceInfo).

My version is 0x0010. The switchports parameter on my ata is 0x00000000 (10 mbps half) and I cant change this!!!

Does someone know how to solve this?

I solved this!!!

The release note should have been

the hardware version number on your Cisco ATA must be 0x0009 +

Like the release notes:

I set the pc port to value 4 i.e. 1111 and the uplink port bits the same. In hex the switchports parameter is 0x000000ff

You must power off then power on the ATA to change the speed/duplex. A shut/no shut on the port neither a restart device on callmanager is enough.

Hi Jean-Sebastien,

Thanks for posting back with your resolution,great troubleshooting here! 5 points from this end.

Thanks again,

Rob
