VPN: Cisco remote client connection to ASA.
The VPN connection works fine and I can access any Cisco or unix/linux device on the LAN subnet. Am also able to connect to Win sharename on (older) NT servers.
Connection cannot be made to Win2000 or later devices.
* Cannot connect via "My network places"
* Map drive fails
* Net Use * \\ip.address\share * user:... fails.
Clue: Net Use syntax results in a request for password, so it appears a partial communication session starts ... but then fails.
Would appreciate any pearls of wisdom available on this forum ... my case with TAC seems to be going nowhere.
TIA

Turn off your windows firewall and it will work! Just tried it, don't know why.
Please rate if it helps.

This was a helpful tip ... it partially cured the problem.
You tip about the firewall was significant. I don't use win firewall, but the one I use permits addition of trusted networks ... when I added the inside subnet, connection was possible by some clients.
Specifically, full-blown Win2K & XP pro were o.k. Laptops with XP Home were not able to connect (they aren't permitted to join win domains).
Thanks, I'll continue to kludge-around to see if there is a solution for these guys.
