Hi,

The Cisco 1721 router supports a maximum 128MB DRAM, so yes you can upgrade your memory.

For upgrading please check:

Edgar,

You have to open the router and then put the memory in a spare DIMM module. You have an onboard 64MB Dram and you have use the part number MEM1700-64D= to get an additional 64MB memory. Put the meory in spare DIMM mdoule. Please use the link below for the same:

Which is the best way to do this?

I need to open the router and then, change the memory module and insert the 64 or 128MB module?

Best regards

Edgar,

The MAX memory size supported on 1721 router is upto 128MB. This product has already reached EOl/EOS. It will be very hard to get the parts for it now. Check with a local reseller if you can get an addtional 64MB memory and upgarde it to 96 MB. You are already running 64MB DRAM on this.

Here is the part number for this memory:

MEM1700-64D=

Please see the documentation for upgrading the memory on the router:

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/routers/ps221/prod_configuration_guide09186a0080099429.html

HTH,Please rate if it does.
