When my primary link goes down, ISDN Ospf neighbourship is going to exstart state.
Rtr BL----
interface Dialer1
ip address XXX XXX
no ip redirects
encapsulation ppp
ip route-cache flow
load-interval 30
dialer pool 1
dialer remote-name m
dialer idle-timeout 300
dialer string XXXXX
dialer string XXXXX
dialer string XXXXX
dialer load-threshold 78 either
dialer-group 1
no cdp enable
ppp authentication chap
ppp multilink
end
Router MC
-----
interface Dialer1
description xXX
ip address XXXX XXXXXX
no ip redirects
encapsulation ppp
ip route-cache flow
no ip mroute-cache
dialer in-band
dialer idle-timeout 300
dialer map ip XXXX name BL broadcast XXXXXX
dialer load-threshold 25 either
dialer-group 1
no fair-queue
no cdp enable
ppp authentication chap
ppp multilink
end
both the interface ip's are allowed in OSPF.
What could be the reason for not establishing the full state in OSPF? pls advice

Hi,
Can you please send "show ip ospf neighbor", and the OSPF process configuration on both routers.
BR,
Mohammed Mahmoud.

Hi,
The problem is most frequently caused by the inability to successfully exchange DBD packets which many be due to neighbor between PRI and BRI/dialer, let me check it and get back to you.
HTH,
Mohammed Mahmoud.

I had faced a similar situation (not with an ISDN interafce though) where we chnaged the module and the symptom got rectified.
Can you try establishing the adjaceny over the ISDN interface without configuring it as backup for the primary?

simulating it,at this point of time will not be possible. but wanted to know the there can be some other reason other than MTU , which will make the state of OSPF to EXSTART

Can somebody help me getting the reason for my probelm please ?

Sarosh,
Have you tried running a "show ip ospf adj" on these two routers? This would give you a good hint of what the issue is.
Hope this helps,

I would also try setting a "dialer map ip broadcast" on either side. Currently, only router MC is configured this way.
Hope this helps,
