When configuring a PIX 515e with latest software for active/active functionality, do I need to have my interface on the second context setup on a different VLAN(subnet)...or can I just use the same VLAN and use a unique IP?

You can have your interface on the same vlan, but the IP has to be different (but on the same subnet)...
