If it is a T1/E1 card, you need to first configure "card type t1 0 0", depending on what slot you have the card in.

it is a daughter card in slot 0 but the router won't take card type as on option?

What is the part number of the card?

WIC Slot 0:

T1E1 (1 port) WAN daughter card

Hardware Revision : 0.0

Top Assy. Part Number : 800-22628-05

Board Revision : A0

Deviation Number : 0

Fab Version : 04

PCB Serial Number : FOC10520QNU

RMA Test History : 00

RMA Number : 0-0-0-0

RMA History : 00

Product (FRU) Number : VWIC2-1MFT-T1/E1

Version Identifier : V01

EEPROM format version 4

So that card will do either T1 or E1, in global config, you should be able to use the card type command.

TGO-MKE-Honeycreek-Router#

TGO-MKE-Honeycreek-Router#config t

Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.

TGO-MKE-Honeycreek-R(config)#card

TGO-MKE-Honeycreek-R(config)#card ?

% Unrecognized command

TGO-MKE-Honeycreek-R(config)#card

Hmm. What version of IOS?

Cisco IOS Software, 2800 Software (C2800NM-SPSERVICESK9-M), Version 12.3(8)T8, RELEASE SOFTWARE (fc1)

I thought maybe I was loosing my mind. Very odd nothing seems to be working

Well, I can't vouch for your mind ;), but it sure seems like it should be working. Maybe try a different slot, or a reload?

maybe a reload of the IOS? I do have 2 cards and installed the second into another slot to see if that would make a difference but no luck. Strange it shows in sh diag but can't configure it?

Or maybe go up to 12.4, if you don't mind running that.

I will try that tomorrow and see what happens

thanks for the help
