We are researching te possibility to migrate from our 12 year old PABX to IP-telephony. Last year we replaced our switches by 3750-PoE Catalysts. We have one major issue, the entire building is equipped with Category 3 cabling and replacement of the cabling is not possible at the moment. So we are stuck to 10 Mb
Does anyone here have experience with IP-Telephony over cat.3 cabling?
We have questions like:
- Are there PoE issues?
- Is it still possible to connect a PC to the internal switch of the phone?

I think the answers are, no, and yes.

Thanks for your fast response.
Do you know if Cisco has a whitepaper on this issue? (I couldn't find any information on the Cisco site).
One more question, is it also possible to use a seperate voice and data vlan on a 10 Mb port?

Hi, on matter of cabling, all what the withepapers are saying that cat 5 or better is recommended. vlan at 10 on a 10/100 port is not a problem.
