Does anybody remember Token Ring? I have a Cisco Token Ring Switch and a 3Com Hub 16M. I want to use toiken ring fiber transceivers to extend the hub, but when I try this between a patch fiber cable I only get insertion on the Cisco Switch and not the HUB. Any Ideas??

The Ring In / Ring Out (RI/RO) ports may need to be enabled. In some cases it's a dipswitch, in other caes it may be a console command.

You (usually) cannot use the RI/RO into a standard host port ... RI must go to RO, RO must go to RI ...

I'm also assuming that you have properly crossed the Tx/Rx, and made sure the cable is good.

Also note that you may need to manually set the ring speed on either or both components.

Good Luck

Scott

Thanks Scott I 'll give it a look.

Make sure the speeds are the same on both ends , you had 4 meg token ring and 16 meg token ring . If they don't match you won't get a connection . My condolences on having to still run token ring .
