Solved: Server check.

Hi All,

I have so many server connected to directly L3 switch, under so many VLan's.

How is it possible to check which server is connected to which port of switch?

Hi Friend,

If you know the ip address of your servers then you can issue a command "sh ip arp " and get the mac address binded with that ip address.

Then issue a comand "sh mac-address-table address " and this will give you the interface number on which that mac address is learned.

Is it same command for L2 switchs also?

Hi Friend,

L2 switch will not give you ip address to mac address binding. It does not maintain the arp entry for all machines connected to it.

To get the mac address from ip address you have to go to your L3 switch or router first and issue "sh ip arp
