Hi,
Please, look at this command line output from a 2811 router I am configuring:
borderman_ng.cesce#conf t
borderman_ng.cesce(config)#ip route 172.20.0.0 255.255.0.0 213.171.236.254
borderman_ng.cesce(config)#exit
borderman_ng.cesce#show ip route 172.20.0.0
% Network not in table
borderman_ng.cesce#show ip route
S 172.17.0.0/16 [1/0] via 131.15.254.1
S 172.19.0.0/16 [1/0] via 131.15.254.1
S 172.21.0.0/16 [1/0] via 131.15.254.1
S 172.29.0.0/16 [1/0] via 131.15.254.1
?????? Can anyone tell me why the new route is not added???
Thanks in advance.
Regards,
Sergio.

IOS needs to be able to resolve the next hop for the static route to be installed in the routing table. Verify that a route to 213.171.236.254 exists in the routing table (preferrably directly connected).
Hope this helps,

When you configure a static route the IOS will put that route into the table is it believes that the next hop is reachable and it will remove a route from the table if it believes that the next hop is not reachable. So I am guessing that 213.171.236.254 is not reachable.
Can you check the routing table and see if 213.171.236.254 is reachable?

Hi Sergio,
As posted by Rick, reachability should be there to the next hop i.e. 213.171.236.254 then only it will show in routing table. I will suggest you to kindly check the connectivity first.

Manish
