Easy VPN is - remote access VPN to the head end using a hardware client.

Cisco had the VPN 3002 Hardware client which was the first Easy VPN client. It used to connect with the concentrator device only, at first.

Now, you can use the PIX firewall, Cisco IOS router and ASA's as the Easy VPN client. The head end device to which the client is connecting to is called the Easy VPN server.

Easy VPN client can establish connection to the head end server in two modes.

a. Client Mode

b. Network Extension Mode
