7206 Router : Difference btw Slot0: and Disk0:

Hi All,

Can someone please confirm the difference between Slot0: and Disk0: on a 7206 router.

I've always understood Slot0: to be the usual PCMCIA flash card that you can plug and unplug from the router. However, I am not certain what Disk0: is then? Is it a physical hard disk inside the Cisco 7206 router?

Regards

Andrew

Linear memory cards are addressed as the slot0: and slot1: devices. Flash Disk cards are inserted into the slot0 and slot1 physical slots but are addressed as the disk0: and disk1: devices.

Hope this helps

Martin

Thanks Martin,

Does this also hold true then on the Cat 6509's?

Regards

Andrew

Hi Andrew

I believe that with 6500's it is a little different.

On Sup1 and Sup2 the card slot is called slot0:

On Sup720 the card slot is called disk0: or disk1:

Thanks Martin :)

Ei, just wanna follow up to the question. What is a linear memory card? So where does the PCMCIA fit? disk0 or slot0? Thanks.
