Cisco 871W - dns server crash

Hello,

In my 871W with IOS release 12.4(11)T, the dns server (ip dns server) keeps crashing and I can't find the cause.

After the crash the cpu load goes to 100% until I turn the dns server off.

I've searched the published caveats for this release and found nothing related.

This is the error message generated when the crash occurs:

%SCHED-3-STILLWATCHING: Process still watching bitfield Socket events -Process= "DNS Server Input", ipl= 0, pid= 72, -Traceback= 0x808894F8 0x81453C80 0x81454028 0x8145407C 0x80E39DBC 0x80E3A38C 0x80E3A988 0x809C1BFC 0x803ABF08 0x803AF19C

I don't know where else to report this issue.

Thank you for any help.

Rui

Bug not found even with tool. Suggest you open a case with the TAC. That normally requires a support contract, but if you call and say that the router is new and you are very upset, they may provide support anyway.

In the defect below the same condition is seen after some DNS queries are made. I don't have your exact image, so I can't decode your tracebacks to see if they match, but I bet they will as this was seen in 12.4(11)T images.

CSCsg62638

Externally found severe defect: Resolved (R)

CPU usage reaches 99% after nmap scan on port 53

This defect was fixed in 12.4(13.8)T, which basically means the next release of 12.4T code somewhere around the end of June or beginning of July time frame.

Thanks

Anthony
