Dear Experts ,
I want to know about Default route and Static route and their advertisement using the different routing protocols(RIP,EIGRP,IGRP,OSPF).....
A static route is used to route packets to their destination statically, meaning that they need to be configured statically on every hop in the network and never propagated between routers, Default routes are used by routing devices to forward packets to destination networks not available in the routing table (they have no more specific routes in the routing table).
You can configure all routing protocols to redistribute static routes (default route is a static route) and advertise them to their neighbors.
But the point here is that default routes are special, and sometimes they need extra configuration to be advertised when redistributed, for example all routing protocols (except EIGRP) requires using the "default-information originate" command to advertise a redistributed default route to its neighbors.
