what is non-self generated LSA?

is that the lsa which router receive from the other routers?

what is the significant of those non-self generated LSA and self generated LSA?

one other thing is about the LSA pacing for LSU. Normally Pacing time is in the milisecond so at what interval the LSU/LSA generated? or it is depend on the router request for the update?

why do we need to configure the Pacing....is that for reducing the flooding?

and what is the best valu for the retransmit interval? can we increase the buffer size for the same instade of using the retransmit interval variation?

Hi,

Yes the nonself-generated LSA are LSA received from another routers, the OSPF Link-State Database Overload Protection feature allows you to limit the number of nonself-generated link-state advertisements (LSAs) for a given Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) process. Excessive LSAs generated by other routers in the OSPF domain can substantially drain the CPU and memory resources of the router. To limit the number of nonself-generated link-state advertisements (LSAs) that an Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) routing process can keep in the OSPF link-state database (LSDB) use the following command.

Router(config-router)# max-lsa 14000
