I want to monitor a port on this switch (gig 1/0/9) to port 1/0/48. I don't seem to have the option.

The correct command to use is "monitor session" under configuration mode.

"monitor session" is the command which you where exactly looking in for.

Hello,
You are using a wrong command to setup the monitor session on the 3750 switches. The command that you are trying to use was used on earlier 3500XL switches. 3750 switches has different set of commands for port montioring. Do the folloiwng:
Config t
monitor session source interface gig 1/0/9 - 1/0/48 both <-- there is a spance between the port ranges and the - sign
montior session destination interface gig 1/0/x <- X is the port number where montior PC is connected.
