Configure 3750 in stack

Hi

We are thinking about putting two 3750 in stack, is there some documentation on how you should do this ?

I never done this before, is this an easy to set up ?

Hi,

Yes, you are right that the setup is really easy and takes only a few minutes to setup. It is same as connecting the two switches togather with a crossover cable, but there are some differences.

1. There is a Cisco proprietory cable that needs to be used whic connects the switches at the back.

2. There are special ports that need to be used to connect these switches togather to form a stack.

3. There are two configuration i.e. 1 to 1 or Ring. In a 1 to 1 stacking the switches are stack but they do not have any redundancy on link failure and the backplane on the switch stack is 16 Gbps. In case of a ring configuration you have link redundancy and also it provides 32 Gbps of backplane between the switches.

i got a hold of the cables from our vendor :)

but i have another question, in my documentation, they refer to ios 12.2(37)SE

We run ios 12.2(25) SEB2

are they much different, and how can i check the difference between them ?

Each switch should have come with one cable.

When you attach the two together, the master switch will update the images so they are both the same. Obviously 12.2(37) is the newer of the two, but there is little difference that you will notice.
