Currently I'm having sup720 with 67xx series 720 line card with 6509 chassis.

I plan to use DFC card to enhance the performance of system for each of line card. I'm not sure what is impact on following with this:

3. Currently my NMS (non cisco)is supporting different traps/alarms for line card removal and port up/down etc. What is impact on this ?

4. Does any NEW MIB is supported specific for DFC card ?

5. Any other impact, which i need look as far as O&M concern.

I would appricieate the if some one can respond to my above query...

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Chintan

There are no additional DFC MIBs. All the MIBs a device will ever support are dictated by the platform, software version, and feature set. To get a list of all available MIBs you will need to fully manage this 6500, see http://tools.cisco.com/ITDIT/MIBS/MainServlet . If your switch is running CatOS, see http://www.cisco.com/public/sw-center/netmgmt/cmtk/mibs.shtml .

Since there are no new MIBs, there are no new traps. The same module and port traps will still be applicable.

To understand the last question fully, I would need to know what you're currently managing on this device. But general O&M does not change. All fault and element management will remain the same.
