I have a WS-C2950-24 that does not read the VLAN domain from its VTP Server, this is the output:

sh vtp status

Configuration Revision : 0

Maximum VLANs supported locally : 64

Number of existing VLANs : 7

VTP Operating Mode : Client

VTP Domain Name : XXX

VTP Pruning Mode : Disabled

VTP V2 Mode : Disabled

VTP Traps Generation : Disabled

MD5 digest : 0xB6 0xC2 0x8B 0xBB 0x79 0x5D 0x0A 0x93

Another Output:

Eloy,

There could be several reasons for this.

1. Check if you have the same domain name configured on all the switches.

2. Check if your trunk ports are properly comfigured and working fine.

3. Check if there is any VTP password configured on the VTP server and has to be same on the VTP domain clients. To check this compare " show VTP counters " on both the switches and see if you are getting any " message digest errors ".

Please paste the switch configurations and also " show VTP status " and " Show VTP counters " from both the switches.

HTH,Please rate if it does.

As Amit indicated the usual reasons are that the vtp domain name and if it has a password do not match exactly . They must match exactly including upper and lower case .
