AP's cannot get IP from 4402's dhcp

I've installed a 4402 (using port1) into my existing ntwk. This 4402 is facing a 3550 which is aggregating traffic from 6 3524's. My AP 1121-g is plugged onto a port on one of the 3524's. This port has been assigned the associated vlan tag 601 (with switchport access config etc.). Both AP Mgr & Management Intfs.on my 4402 belong to this same vlan (601: subnet 192.168.37/28). I'm looking to use the internal dhcp of the 4402 so I have created another subnet (vlan:600 192.168.38.0/24). I'm able to ping the AP mgr intf. of my 4402 and ping my 3524 and 3550 switch (vlan intfs

:600 & 601) from my 4402 but the AP cannot pull an IP from the 4402 nor do i see the AP from the GUI of the 4402. Do I need the "ip helper-address" command and if so where? Because i have tried this and it still does not work. Please help!!!

Is the 1121 a new AP? I recently installed a couple APs but ran across a bug with the code shipped on the APs (CSCse02766; http://wwwin-metrics.cisco.com/cgi-bin/ddtsdisp.cgi?id=CSCse02766). This prevented clients from getting DHCP addresses. I attempted to upgrade the code, which didn't help, but a downgrade corrected the problem. I'd have to power up my laptop to verify the code versions, but I think it shipped with 12.3(8) and I had to downgrade to 12.3(7) to get it to work.

I'm not sure what image is on the AP's however it's the AP's that are not getting IP's and not clients. In otherwords I have not even surpassed the 1'st level of getting the AP's to register w/the controller.
