I've been on with the company tech support for more than four hours trying to solve this -- the vpn establishes a connection(at least it says it does), but none of the software will connect, the company tech support is out of options -- i was hoping someone here might have an idea

Not enough info. What device? Can you post the config? This is usually a nat-t problem.

its a cisco systems vpn adapter version 4.0.3 (f) -- i've tried it with and without transport tunneling, and with udp and tcp -- the isp is not blocking any ports
