Intermittent IE Disconnection

Unanswered Question
May 28th, 2007

I have a router Cisco 871+ for Ethernet Access 1Mbps.However for the past few months, I have been encountering intermittent network disconnection at least twice a month. I have checked with my ISP - they have performed some circuit test on their side & prove that everything is stable. They have replaced the NTU unit as well but the problem still persist. Could it be the fault of the router or otherwise? Any ideas?

Appreciate your assistance. Thanks.

I have this problem too.

The 871 connects to WAN via an ethernet port, so you should check first the device attached to this port that has the actual physical circuit. For example you could check the LEDs on that device at time of interruption.

This said, you can check if the 871 detects something during the interruption:

conf t

service timestamps log datetime

logging buffered 500000 informational

Then do "show log" after a connection drop to see if the router has detected anything.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!
