3500XL startup-config backup

I have a defective Catalyst 3500 switch, which can only boot into Diagnostic/maintenance mode.

I need to extract the existing startup-config to my laptop from the defective switch and import the startup-config from my laptop into a new 3500 switch.

Prompt help will be highly appreciated!

Unfortunately, I think you MAY be boned. I'm pretty sure that the only file transfer tool available in rommon is xmodem, and with xmodem you can only transfer files TO the device and not from.

Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm interested to see if there is a way.
