LMS 2.5: What does "network.pl" do?

Hi,

When running a Self-Test on my CiscoWorks LMS it always comes back reporting a FAIL for network.pl. All other *.pl scripts report a PASS.

What does network.pl accomplish, and should I be concerned that it fails?

Cheers,

Ben.

The network.pl script does an nslookup on 127.0.0.1 and expects to get back localhost.whatever.com

So you need to have an entry in your DNS server for that.

Also, make sure the CW server's hostname is mapped correctly in DNS to its IP address. Do

nslookup IPAddress and nslookup Hostname to make sure the CW server resolves

OK.

Self test on network.pl was indeed designed to test name resolution with DNS

servers. This test will definitely fail if you are not using DNS, and may

even fail if you are using

DNS. There's really nothing to worry about either way

Thanks very much David.
