I've got a dummy network set up in order to test out blockage of an ARP loop. I have two hosts plugged into ports 18 and 19 of a 24-port switch with IP addresses of 22.214.171.124 and .122 /28. This then goes out of port 11 on 126.96.36.199/28 to an ADSL router on 188.8.131.52/28.
I have configured port 11 on the switch as a promiscuous port (VLAN 11 is primary) with interface VLAN 11 being given the .119 address. Ports 18 and 19 are in respective secondary VLANs 18 and 19 with 18 as isolated and 19 as community and are both mapped to the primary.
The problem I have is that I cannot ping port 11 (184.108.40.206 i.e. int VLAN 11) of the switch from the hosts but can ping to the router beyond it. I have to have management on this switch but if I try to allocate an IP address within the range (i.e. 113-126) for a management VLAN it says, quite rightly, that VLAN 11 already has that range. I cannot use another range as this is allocated by a service provider.
Is there anyway I can gain management to this switch?
