Hi,
Just wondering if someone has experience working with different voltages and Catalyst switches. This may be a no brainer but something we have never done before.
We are rolling out a large number of Cat 2960's and 3750's. In one area of our campus we have UPS's that distribute power at 110v. We have only ever used 240v in the past. The switches appear to be rated for both.
Can we just connect the switches to 110v and will they auto-sense the power input voltage? Will this have any impact later if we add devices that use PoE?
Thanks in advance
Dave

The switches have universal power supplies that's rated 100-240V. Having different switches plugged into different input voltages will not affect its operation as a whole.

Thanks for the help everyone.

Typically speaking for all Cisco gear with auto power supplies, the unit will run better and cooler on 220v. The added advantage is the wattage will be the rated also. For instance, if you run a 3000 watt power supply in a 6500, the power output will only be around 1500 watts on 110 volts and if ran at 220 volts, the output will be closer to the 3000 watts.

how about different power sources on the same switch??
For eg: A single 3650 with 1025 WAC's connected in both slots and one slot is powered by 120 V and other by 220 V.
Would this be a problem? Any known issues ?

I have the same question as you regarding:

Did you get an answer or try it and get a result?
Thanks
