Hi,

I just want to confirm:

Imagine you need to copy and past a configuration from a router to a new one. If I copy the enable the secret like the ones pasted below, is that going to work in my new configuration OK? It seems that is the case, but I just want to confirm this.

(...)

enable secret %$&%$$$$$&&&&

!

username xxxxx privilege 15 secret 5 %$%^&&*&**

!

Yes, it should transfer without issue.

The router doesn't actually know what the decrypted password is. It simply hashes the password you input and compares that value with the value saved in the configuration.
