ME 3750 and shaping

Unanswered Question

I'm a newbee to the 3750 ME switch , we received a demo 3750 switch from Cisco to do some testing with shaping.

We would have several customers connected to the 3750 switch and each of them will be placed in a separate vlan. In this way we can shape each customer to his bandwidth.

This is my config:

class-map match-all icmp

match vlan 2

policy-map test

class class-default

policy-map icmp

class icmp

shape average 32000

int fa1/0/1

switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q

switchport mode trunk

speed 100

duplex full

When I try to activate the policy map I get the following error message

cisco_demo(config-if)#service-policy output icmp

00:26:01: cqm_check_service_policy: Assigning a policy to output side of an unsupported interface

Does anybody have an idea ?

PS: What does ES interface mean ?

I have this problem too.

Try attaching this policy map to you ES interfaces for it to work.

MPLS and some QOS features can be configured only on the ES ports

(Enhanced Services)port for it to work.

The ES ports would be your Gi1/1/1 Gi1/1/2.

in the 3750ME platform (as in the 3750) you have to use srr-queue for output policing.

ES stands for Enhanced Services.

Only some of the interfaces on the 3750 are ES. If you try to apply an advanced service like your service-policy to a non ES interface you get the error message.

I wish all interfaces were ES, but no joy.

I have also encountered problems when matching on VLAN interface. Try matching on ACL and see if that works.
