Regarding a bad block number error in 3560

Hi all,

Can anyone check this error messages which i am getting in 3560 Switch while intilizing the flash in Recovery mode?


Base ethernet MAC Address: 00:1b:2b:9f:4f:80

Xmodem file system is available.

The password-recovery mechanism is enabled.

Initializing Flash...

flashfs[0]: Checking block 201...bad block number (-21778)

flashfs[0]: erasing block 201...done.

flashfs[0]: Checking block 202...bad block number (-21782)

flashfs[0]: erasing block 202...done.

flashfs[0]: Checking block 201...bad block number (-1297)

flashfs[0]: Inconsistency in flash found on second pass


Initializing Flash.

The flash error you're getting is a physical

problem on the Flash itself.

Try formatting the flash " format flash:" and then try initializing the flash using



If that works then you are good to go, Otherwiese go ahead and get an RMA for the 3560 switch as it has a bad flash hardware.
