Hi,

The cisco switch 4506 is running with the " cat4000-i5k91s-mz.122-25.EWA2.bin".

I am not sure the version of snmp on this. since this is a latest version of IOs, i think snmp Version3 is running.

The SNMP Mangement server is Tivoli which can support V1.

I am trying to do module test on the 4506. When module goes down the switch is sending trpas confirmed with debug command.

But our Tivoli Monitoring team is getting alert as FMT IN TRAPD.CONF which does not give clear information.

Can you guide me what is the related MIB for this module test and Is it possible to downgrade the snmp ver3 to ver1/2 on the Cisco switch. If so pls guide me how to downgrade.

Hi

I don't think that SNMP V3 is the issue here.

According to the alert message "FMT IN TRAPD.CONF", it seems more that the trap that the 4506 send is of an unknown kind according to Tivoli NetView .

You have to check if this trap is configured in Tivoli NetView and if it isn't, then you have to configure it.

This is usually tackled by

1) Determine which Cisco MIB describes the particular OID that's currently "unknown" to NetView, using the Cisco SNMP Object Navigator:

http://tools.cisco.com/Support/SNMP/public.jsp

2) Locate and download the relevant Cisco MIB(s)

http://www.cisco.com/univercd/cc/td/doc/product/lan/cat5000/ent_mib/getmib.htm

http://www.cisco.com/public/sw-center/netmgmt/cmtk/mibs.shtml

3) Configure/customize how you want the trap message to appear in NetView through its "Event Configuration" area (at least that's what it's called in NetView's distant cousin--HP OpenView NNM).
