Hi,

in unframed E1, you will be ables to use the full bandwidth of the circuit of 2048 kpbs. Normally, for various reasons, this mode is not given to customers by telco .

This requires the VWIC or VWIC2 cards with the suffix of G703.

In framed mode, timeslot 0 is reserved for sync and signaling purposes, and cannot be used. So the maximum bandwitdh is 1984 kbps. For framed mode you can use the VWIC or VWIC2 with or without G703 suffix.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

Hi,

How it actually differs with 64 kbps included in unframed link ? Is there any advantage over unframed link over framed other than bandwidth ?

Hi,

first of all you must verify that the circuit given to you is unframed. If it is, you can use unframed with the additional 64kbps from 1984, that admittedly is not much a difference.

However, the cisco cards that support unframed have an higer cost that the framed only, so you have to consider that aspect too.

Hope this helps, please rate post if it does!
