Hi, my internet is a IP-8 PPPoE session. Now I try to install PIX515E failover but don't know how to config. If I use fix IP there is no default gateway in PPPoE setting. Somebody can help me?

Hello Amigo.

one of the failover requirements is to have static ip's configured. PPPOE is a dynamic way to get ip's, therefore failover will not support this.

You will need ASA ver 7.2 in order to do PPPoE. Also if it is a dynamic PPPoE connection, you may need the "setroute" command to set default route. See example below for dynamic PPPoE:

interface Ethernet0/0

nameif outside

security-level 0

pppoe client vpdn group bellsouthDSL

ip address pppoe setroute

!

vpdn group bellsouthDSL request dialout pppoe

vpdn group bellsouthDSL localname cisco@bellsouth.net

vpdn group bellsouthDSL ppp authentication pap

vpdn username cisco@bellsouth.net password 7779311

Thanks you very much! Because upgrade to high version is the next project so I will ask vender to change pppoe to fixed IP. Thanks!
