6509 FWSM Upgrade to 3.1.5

I'm looking into upgrading the FWSMs from 3.1.4 to 3.1.5. Cisco documentation (http://ftp-sj.cisco.com/cisco/crypto/3DES/lan/catalyst/6000/fwsm/c6500fwsm-releasenote.3-1-5.pdf) seems to say that I need to have SXF IOS image on the 6509 to upgrade. It says the same requirement for 3.1.4, but our 6509 only has SXD7a and everything works.

Am I reading the requirements wrong?
