I am trying to integrate ACS with AD to support external database authentication.
Are there any good documentation guides out there which shows how this is done.
Will I need a Remote Agent for this type of setup?
Will appreciate a quick response.
Thanks,

You would have to setup an RA if you have ACS Solution Engine, not reqd for ACS for WIndows

Does the ACS server has to be part of the domain if we are using CSACS on windows?
So to summarize this is all I have to do for ACS to start using AD:
Add external database
Define group mappings
configure unknown user-policy
Correct?

Hi,
If you are using acs for windows it has to be a part of domain and can be installed on domain controller itself or on the member server.
ACS appliance is not a part of windows so its the remote agent that will be install on dc or on a member server.
Now the service running remote agent should have proper rights to query DC.
So other then setting up ex user database in acs you need to set up proper rights and permission.
Hope that helps !
