HI Christopher,

If you have 2 Links (Copper / Fiber) from Core Switch to the Core Router--conn..to--ISP means you can use HSRP.

2-Links (1-Pri.. & 1-Sec..)

Pls Rate if Helps

Hi,

HSRP allows one router to automatically assume the function of the second router if the second router fails, thus to benefit from HSRP you must have two routers in the first place in your network, and each router should have its separate link to your ISP, or the 2 routers can be connected to a third router which has a single connection to the ISP (but the second solution makes the third router a single point of failure reducing the benefit of HSRP on the first place).

HTH,

Mohammed Mahmoud.

Thanks, this is what I was thinking too!
