You should buy at least six 2600 routers, four 3550 or 3560 switches and three low end routers (2500 or 3600) for backbone configuration.

You will also need a frame-relay router.

The cost will vary. Many purchase their gear from eBay.

you don't really need to buy any routers for your CCIE R&S lab.

I got my CCIE using Dyanmips/Dynagen. It works just fine. You would need 2 or 3 powerful PC to run full CCIE mock Lab.

I have 13 routers for for my lab.

6 routers

4 routers /w switch module for switch

3 routers for backbone

I would suggest you look at using dynamips

you can actually simulate an entire router with it and it will support all the commands in the IOS

Go to that site has more information on simulating there labs in virtual routers.

I currently have 2 3560s and 2 3550's connectet via 12 ethernet ports to a computer which simulates all of my CCIE routers. What would cost your 30 40 k to create you can simulate on a beefy machine for about 2k dollars.

All so I highly recommend you subscribe to the [email protected] if your seriously want to get a kick start on your CCIE Prep.
