C2950 EI IOS IMAGE supports 802.1Q trunks???

i need to know if SW2950 EI IOS IMAGE supports 802.1Q trunks or not ,if yes....plz let me know the commands because on my SW2950 i did't see the enacapsulation 802.1Q in this command :

switchport trunk (here no enacpasulation 802.1q appears)

i don't know the problem in case this the IOS version i use (12.1(22)EA8a).

Hi,

2950's only support 802.1q trunk, so that is why there is no command for setting Encap.

Jagdeep is correct.

The 2950 switches support only dot1q trunks and not ISL and hence you do not see the command.

Infact cisco is phasing out ISL trunks and recommends to configure dot1q trunks

Hi,

Totally agree with Narayan, you can check the following links to see which platform supports what, and i also agree that your switch doesn't display 802.1q as it is the only supported trunking on it, and also agree that Cisco is out phasing ISL support on its switches.
