In my 7604, 12.2(33)SRB1, I have a couple SIP-400s with 2GE-SPAs in them. Here is 'sh mod':

ROC-RT7604A-CR>sh mod

Mod Ports Card Type Model Serial No.

1 2 Supervisor Engine 720 (Active) WS-SUP720-3B SAL1106GKP2

2 0 4-subslot SPA Interface Processor-400 7600-SIP-400 JAE1112A45Z

However when I do a 'sh int status' only the two gig interfaces on the Sup720 show up:

ROC-RT7604A-CR>sh int status

Port Name Status Vlan Duplex Speed Type

Gi1/1 connected routed full 1000 1000BaseT

Gi1/2 disabled 1 full 1000 No Transceiver

ROC-RT7604A-CR>

Yet one of the SPAs is active as shown here:

ROC-RT7604A-CR>sh int g2/0/0

GigabitEthernet2/0/0 is up, line protocol is up

Hardware is GigEther SPA, address is 0017.0fac.a600 (bia 0017.0fac.a600)

Description: to ACN-7604-CD-A G2/0/0

Internet address is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx/30

MTU 1500 bytes, BW 1000000 Kbit, DLY 10 usec,

reliability 255/255, txload 1/255, rxload 1/255

Encapsulation ARPA, loopback not set

Keepalive not supported

Full Duplex, 1000Mbps, link type is auto, media type is LX

output flow-control is unsupported, input flow-control is unsupported

ARP type: ARPA, ARP Timeout 04:00:00

........

1. Is there a reason why the SPA interfaces do not show up when doing a 'sh int status'?

2. Also why does the 'sh mod' show 'not applicable' for the 2/0 & 2/1 diag status fields?

The interface may be down due to module problems. And if the interface are used for SPAN then its status will be down.

Newly added interface does not come online in a PortChannel. PortChannel mode is on.

Enable PortChannel manually or change PortChannel mode to active. Or, use the no shutdown CLI command to enable the PortChannel manually or use the channel-mode active CLI command in the interface submode for the PortChannel interface.
