Can a ws-3750g-12s-e be used as a distribution layer switch.
2 stacks 2 switches per stack.
7 - 3750 access switches per stack
500 users total on network
core is 2 - 6506's
Because of space, power and cost don't want to use 4500's, but do not want poor performance either.

Hello,
Why are you plan to use 3750 as access layer switch? It would be so expensive. If you don't need PoE on the access layer 2960 series switches are fit for access layers, if you need PoE 3560 switches are for this layer. I think 3750 is more than enough for distribution layer - it also fit to core layer, I used them in the core for 200-250 users and I used them in the past with 400-500 users and the performance was fine.

It is for a large corp and 3750 access layer is thier standard. However our site is upgrading from 5509 closet sw and a collapsed core design.
You have used them at the core level but have you used them at the distribution level?
I understand that sometimes the distribution level can have heavier proccessing load.
because of routing,switching,span tree ect..
Thanks

Cisco 3750 stack with 2 swicthes was the Core and Distribution layer and it was OK. The performance was good...
Don't worry your HW configuration will be very powerful.
