Hi,
when i create a vpn peer in my PIX or ASA, will the host gets resolved to ip address from the public DNS or it will just translates once & maintains the same ip address?
bcoz my requirement will b like this, vpn.cisco.com is what i would like to keep as a remote peer, so i would not b using any static ip address, i would be using a dynamic public ip address, so when ever if ip address is getting changed this vpn.cisco.com should act according to the new ip address.
crypto map pix-to-pix 4 set peer vpn.cisco.com

Hello,
I guess you have static Point-Point VPN connection and you would like to use domain name instead of IP addresses - since the peer sits on a ADSL. What you need is a dynamic dns update service (ddns).

thanks for that, but does VPN 3005 VPN concentrator also supports the same feature?
imean like instead of giving my remote peer ip address, i will be giving the host name as vpn.cisco.com.

Anyway your VPN concentrator's IP address is usually changed, why don't you use static IP for it. That's not usual setup - I guess...
Check the configuration guide:
